Helping a Client Boost Its UX Research Capabilities

A global consumer tech brand needed a fast and flexible solution to help boost its user experience research (UXR) capacity to service sprints and concept iterations through cycles of rapid studies. They sought a vendor who demonstrated a strong understanding of the core business and who had a dedicated team of senior researchers able to collaborate with internal teams. The ideal UXR partner needed to deliver insightful and actionable presentations, ensure each wave fit within a three-week timeframe and have the capacity to run multiple waves and sprints simultaneously.
  • Built custom templates and guidelines for recruiting, reporting, project management and discussion/activity guides

  • Established repeatable processes allowing us to quickly and flexibly meet project deadlines and objectives

  • Created a dedicated space (which Material manages on an ongoing basis) to house all project assets, reports and communications

  • Built durable relationships with the client’s research project managers that led to repeated requests for a UXR partnership beyond the initial research period

Material contracted with the client for initial ten UXR engagements, which were so successful the contract was renewed. In the initial six-month period, we delivered all projects on agreed timelines, enabling internal teams to move quickly and tackle additional projects. The client’s stakeholders were thrilled when our UX research team delivered three web page concept, design and feature reviews; four specific UI features tests (including an in-person tap target test) and two early-stage concept reviews.
